Assessment and Intervention
Making Learning Achievable
We use research-based programs to improve cognitive processes.
Mastering MATH is our program to help 7 - 12 year old students who are struggling to learn math facts. We use a problem solving and Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach, with manipulatives and games. A true multisensory, fun approach to mathematics.
Your children will love math! Really.
Intervention begins with Identification
In medicine there's an expression that prescription without diagnosis is malpractice. Likewise, at Brainworks Achievement Centre we begin with identifying the underlying challenges that are manifesting as a learning difficulty.
The Orton-Gillingham approach uses a structured, sequential, explicit, multisensory, phonological approach to reading instruction. It's the gold standard in reading intervention.
ADHD is a deficit in executive functions. We do skills training to help improve executive function skills.
BUILDING A GROWTH MINDSET
Carol Dweck has done considerable research on growth and fixed mindsets. Promoting a growth mindset can improve student achievement. A growth mindset is the belief that effort and perserverance allow us to learn and grow.
